There isn’t a day in Canada without a story underlining the precarious situation of our medical system. A new medical school like this Toronto Metropolitan School (TMU) should unquestionably be good news, except if we are to lower standards to get to a certain quota. Canada isn’t any better than other countries when it comes to medical malpractice, but lowering standards isn’t a way to improve our standing.

Upon learning of TMU’s admission process, Premier Doug Ford expressed his disappointment as follows:

“While we are making sure that Ontario students are prioritized for medical school seats in Ontario, medical schools must ensure that qualified individuals fill these seats, regardless of their race or background.”

You can bet all you have, the Ontario government will not get in the way of “DEI” diversity, equity and inclusion. Religion, freedom, charter of rights, constitution, everything can be tossed overboard, but if you dare question “DEI”, you’re RACIST.  Understand, no one dares opposing “DEI” out of fear of being called a racist. The preposterous part is that “DEI” is racism, discrimination and in full contradiction with the equality principle cherished by Canadians.

Meanwhile, those promoting “DEI” won’t be called racist, but virtuous enforcers of “affirmative action”. Bravo!

Universities all over Canada apply preferential admission policies. Wokeness has led pretty much everyone to believe that “reverse discrimination” or “affirmative action” is something virtuous. If someone applies to attend a Social Science faculty to study philosophy or archeology, to a certain extend who cares about “diversity” admissions. It gets a whole lot trickier if the process of admission is for the next brain surgeon, doesn’t it?  Would you prefer your cardiologist to be a “diversity” hire or the best there is?

A few years from now, if your doctor belongs to a “diversity” group and says he graduated at TMU, you should rightly question yourself if he’s the right choice for you.  I know I would.

This is the new way for the work place so we might as well let the schools prepare the folks as best they can.
